“Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown, and you will step into the field of all possibilities.” Deepak Chopra
Psychedelic experiences can be produced by a number of substances including psilocybin (magic mushrooms), MDMA (ecstasy), LSD (acid), ayahuasca/DMT, ketamine, and other substances that produce altered states of consciousness. Although MDMA and psilocybin have shown promising clinical results for depression, end of life anxiety, and trauma, the only way to legally use psychedelic therapies other than Ketamine is by participating in a clinical trial. I understand just how important and exciting these new methods of treatment are for those experiencing significant mental health challenges—and how frustrating it can be to wait for them to complete—and yet using these substances alone come with significant legal and medical risks. These risks are amplified for people who are already experiencing mental health difficulties.
Psychedelic experiences have the potential to leave both positive and negative impressions on the individual. While psychedelics can be valuable tools for growth and healing, the experiences produced can often be complex in nature. These non-ordinary states of consciousness can be difficult to navigate. Sometimes trauma memories can come to the surface, and a challenging psychedelic experience (i.e., “bad trip”) may require additional work in order to help merge one reality with the next. Psychedelic Integration provides support and guidance to those in need of processing past experiences in order to gain new insight and assimilate the information received into one’s conception of self, relationships, spirituality, and worldview.
Psychedelic Integration is a unique service available to clients who have experienced the effects of psychedelics outside of a clinical setting. Healing Pathway Counseling can assist clients with integrating their journeys in a non-judgmental space with a therapist who has experience with psychedelic medicines. I have trained with the California Institute of Integral Studies and received a Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Although most psychedelic substances are not yet legal, I can assist with the integration of these often profound, challenging and meaningful non-ordinary states of consciousness experiences. Please note that psychedelic integration does NOT include the administration of psychedelic medicines—my job is to help you make sense of the experience. Psychedelic integration should not be viewed as an endorsement of such substances, but rather a way to help clients through experiences that have left them with more questions than answers.
